Also, this is why the world hates America.

Damn you Willis.
Willis has a special talent for posting comics when they’re most likely to punch me in the gut, I feel like. I have being scared of guys issues, as most readers of this blog know, and for the most part it’s getting better. However, something happened that caused the problem to get a lot worse again in November, and that’s all I’m allowed to say. Right now, I have good days and bad days. Today was a bad day and my first day of school, I was late to class, and all the seats in my Sociology class had me sitting next to a guy I didn’t know.
The face in the final panel was exactly how I felt. It was one of those “Oh God.” moments.
But as life would have it, I’ve also ended up with a lot of guy friends through gaming and my sister who after about a year I’m finally starting to open up to some degree. I remain optimistic that at some point I won’t be so scared.
On other note, I really like Dumbing of Age, I think it’s easily Willis’s best comic.
I missed the exact date, by long story short, my blog is three years old. The popular theory is most blogs will live for two years, then die, and a new generation of bloggers will spring up, by not having quit at year 3 I broke the trend.
I sorta thought it would be more exciting to hit year 3. I’m also not really sure that I deserve to be called “alive”. Due to my long breaks, then a posting spree, I feel like I’m a zombie blog, neither dead nor alive.
As I’m catching up on my season backlog, I realized that with episode 8, most of the cast of “I Have Few Friends” aren’t just socially awkward, but extremely socially inept. They’re the type of people you’ll encounter when browsing 4chan and other message boards that are don’t have social lives outside the internet because they’re that socially inept.
Now, many people in anime fandoms have moments where they act like this, and in small amounts, it’s tolerable, but when it’s how they act all the time, they are, to be blunt, really annoying.
Often a young teen or an immature person, the Weeaboo is a often just dumbed down to someone openly obsessed with Japanese media and culture, but personally, I think it’s more then that. A Weeaboo uses an anime, anime as a whole, or anything Japanese as an escape from the real world and the social norms. Some take it to the extreme of acting anyway they want, and believe that having perfection in their fantasy world is more important then following rules or respecting others boundaries. When these types of weeaboos end up in situation where they can get scot-free with anything, weird and bad things can happen.
Basically, they’re relatively normal teenagers if they’re the age to be teenagers, or people who never grew up.
The Obsessive Fanboy/girl
They’re more obsessive then the typical fan, but more mature then a weeaboo. Yet they treat their object of obsession like it’s life or death, and take it to extreme and creepy levels. You know, marry their DS extreme.
And don’t tell me Sena wouldn’t.
They’re either trying to demonstrate how sexy they are, or really horny and really imaginative. Either way, they want to tell you in detail about every sex related thought they have.
And you’d do anything to make them stop.
Trolls enjoy harassing other people through various methods.
If you don’t know what a troll is then you may be…
Too Stupid to Be On the Internet
Not someone who’s new to the internet or a web site, but someone who’s infuriating stupid about the ways things work. They’re very gullible, often think whatever they’re told is true, and don’t know how to conduct themselves. They don’t know how not to attract trolls and fall for them at the same time.
The ones that remain on the internet probably never learns, as netizens prefer to berate these people rather then help them, but they tend to remain rather cheerful no matter what happens.
That’s all there is as the main character is the straight man, and the trap doesn’t have much going on beyond wanting to be a warrior.
As you know Bob, if you Bob are a reader of this blog, I constantly am not blogging and am complaining it’s because I’ve been sick, and promise I will return soon. Well Bob, this pattern happened again with something slightly different. I went to a different doctor, and they discovered I had a parasite inside my body. Which…is…uh…well, I didn’t believe it at first. Luckily, it was very easily treated once diagnosed.
Once the meds killed it dead, I felt better then I’ve felt since my Junior year of High School. I was left with a wee problem though. I was way behind in schoolwork for the quarter. No time for blogging yet, I had to buckle down and catch up. Now with the quarter ending for me tomorrow, I can enter a blissful existence of catching up and writing, right?
Talking about, I wonder what’s going on in the real world…I mean, I’ve been keeping up with the Republican primaries despite being Democrat as it’s by far the most engrossing reality show this year. When the producers came up with the concept, did they realize the trainwreck and awesome they had on hand? I needed something to be hyped about after Doctor Who.
Oh, wait, what’s this about American Censorship Day? Congress is what? Even worse? they’ve been trying to sneak this past the American public?
Now I feel like it’s finally okay to talk about the mid-season finale of Southpark, after the episode has been up online for over a week, so anyone who wanted to see definitely would have. I suppose the question is, “Who cares about Southpark anymore?”
While Southpark is a big part of pop culture here in America, known for memorable characters, and taking effective jabs at the current politics and trends within America using their special brand of absurdity and toilet humor. Although the newest season has gone mostly ignored, on Wednesdays when the new episodes aired, I had class, and it was the perfect way for me to unwind. I’ll go ahead and say it–I have loved season 15. But Trey Parker and Matt Stone aren’t ones to not rock the boat.
One of the anime I’ve been fascinated with this season is Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko. What fascinates me is the portrayal of one the main characters, Erio, who thanks to a trauma she’s suffered, has become mentally unstable and a shut-in, as well as the interactions of others to cope with the instability the haunts her. Denpa Onna is far from perfect, but other animes that have approached the topic (Rozen Maiden, Welcome to the NHK) aren’t either. These other animes have chosen to also focus on people who became hikkomoris, while Erio’s insanity goes much further. Of the attempts I’ve seen, it’s the one that strikes a chord with me (someone with my own personal mental unstability) the most strongly.
There are six days until Pokemon Black and White comes out in America. I am stoked. The real bummer is I have to go to church before I can get the game, but oh well. Out of anticipation, there are going to be quite a few pokemon related posts this week on whatever the heck I feel like. Today, it’s going to be a look at the amount of Pokemon crossover with other animes fanart out there. (If anyone is for some reason trying to keep from being spoiled for 5th gen, this post is not for you.)
Apparently there’s this history with anime project going around, started with Nopy, and I suppose I contribute my piece. I don’t really feel my story is that unusual or different then anyone’s else, so I don’t promise a compelling story, but if you want to know how it started, this is the story.
One hard thing for me is between a lot of repressed memories and a seizure disorder, a lot of the details, such as later in the tale, the order in which I watched the anime, I’m not really sure of. But I’m doing the best I can here.
So let’s begin.
At my favorite local bookstore (Books&Company) they have adopted a bizarre business practice while I was at college. Naming, making going to the restroom humiliating for customers and employees alike.
They have made going to the bathroom a process reminiscent of being kindergarten.
