Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou episode 1 impressions

At first, after read Scamp’s review, I wasn’t going to watch it. Then reading Rabbitpoet’s review of the first episode, my mind was changed to that I should at least give it a try. Afterwards, I’d form an opinion of my own. In the end, I really enjoyed this first episode.

The premise is pretty simple. A good-natured guy who wants nothing more then to benefit the world around has it announced that he’s going to be a demon lord. To the whole school. Many misunderstandings occur.

Student's futures are being entrusted to this?

I found the whole thing really entertaining. While it looks to be nothing ground-breaking, and could take a path for the worse, it looks like it has a lot of potential to be a really fun series.

Honestly, the animation wasn’t half bad. I really liked the character designs, I personally found them appealing. It feels like that a lot of work went into this episodes which stands out compared to other shows-cough Giant Killing B Gata H Kei Kaichou wa Maid Sama- haven’t had the best production values. Not that this has the best either, but it does feel as if effort went into it.

And yes, there are panty shots. Quite a few. However, it’s seems I’m completely apathetic to butts. Really. It might as well just be a hand or a leg or whatnot, they don’t inspire a reaction out of me. They don’t turn me on, they don’t turn me off, they’re just there. So the butts are no problem for me. I do like boobs as long as they don’t go overboard, and there weren’t that many boobs scenes. One very nice one though.

I’ll be sticking with this for now. If it turns into crap, I’ll drop it, but I hope it won’t.

I stumbled over your blog just some days ago, but I really had to laugh.

When I see panty shots, I won`t react .. unless the design, texture or whatever is so weird, that it triggers a “where do you find that??” – alarm.
I don`t really know, where these artists get their design. Do they go through the stuff of their wife and daughters? Do they send an assistant to a shop to grab some “samples”?
Considering the Japanese culture, is this even possible?

Someone should to a blog posting series: “anime meets reality – ordinary anime assumptions meet their equivalenz in reality” :D.

    • Welcome to Black and Blue Socks!

I really don’t know myself. I remember the NEEDLESS panties with a bear on them, and Momiji from Blue Seed with her panties. Maybe they just go study women’s panties in stores…that’d be awkward though. XD

That would be a really good series, especially if the person actually lived there.

Hmm well I am German, so if you integrate an American, European viewpoint vs animes, you should get some interesting results as well.
But that would need some community work / polls to find enough examples. Blogging Joint Ventures …

Hmm some said, my ideas are always too huge to do ^^ but it ain`t that unrealistic :D.
