I was very hesitant to watch this episode, as I read what happens in Psgels blog, and didn’t want to watch what happened. It was very sad, and I even got a little misty eyed.
I think I’ve said many times before that I have idea how they’ll save the nursery, and as it turns out, they couldn’t. The nursery shut down this episode. Partially, as a shock, as in all the episodic stories though Kobato, they’ve all had happy endings. I mentioned in the last episode that I like how Kobato let things happen naturally, and unfortunately, this is the natural path. No divine intervention to save the day, as it isn’t that type of show. The debt was too big and couldn’t be paid off.
I’m not sure whether I have respect for Okiura or utter disgust. He did what he did to protect Sayaka and make sure his dad didn’t get to her. Yet, I feel as if he should have stood up to his old man. Except this is a show where things happen realistically, and realistically, that may have been the only way he can protect Sayaka. On a side note, I really like sunglasses man, he may not have a name(actually I’m sure it was mentioned once) but he’s still full of personality.
One thing I really liked about this episode is the humanization of the villain. There’s not black and white, except maybe with Okiura’s dad, but with both Okiura and his lackey, it’s an area of gray.
I’m honestly not sure whether Okiura and Sayaka will be able to repair their relationship, but the ending was rather heartwarming. The joy on Sayaka’s face at being reunited with her husband was amazing. I’d like to think they’ll be okay.
The question is what will happen to Kobato now? One storyline has been wrapped up, now hers is left.
