When I started watching this show, I vowed I was not going to compare this to K-On. Two different studios, two different shows. For the most part, this was very easy as the show doesn’t remind me anything of K-On. If anything, I think the main character reminds me of Lain from Serial Experiments Lain.
Personally, I actually read liked this episode, and it gives me high hopes for the show. I wasn’t excited before, but I’m excited now. Although to be honest, I wasn’t all that interested in the characters. They’re alright I suppose.
What I’m really interested in is the world building. We’re obviously in a strange world, and I can’t wait to learn more about it. Some of my favorite moments in the episode were where we’d get scenes looking at the city, and the surrondings.
The art used to draw the backgrounds and surroundings is absolutely gorgeous. The main characters almost seem like they don’t fit in, with there very cartoony designs against the background.
All in all, it’s definitely a show with high potential, and one of my favorite types of shows. A mysterious world that will slowly unfold as the series goes on. Whether it was come through on the potential, or be a bust, time will tell. The creators want us to take the show seriously, that much comes across in the tone and execution of this episode. Whether it deserves to be, that, they’re going to have to prove to the viewers.
